MADDSA Minutes January 12, 2006

I.  DD Coordinator Report-Sandra Butts

     A.  Submit a response to RFI

                1.  Key stock holders were present fro meeting and listened to concerns and addressed them

                2.  Response sent in but waiting to hear back.

                3.  Open for more dialogue if anyone is interested

                4.  Even if small it is extremely important that everyone knows how the structure of service                                                 delivery is changing.

                                A.  Important for Transition of individuals not yet in the system

                5.  Was not time for consumers to participate.  They and their families really need to be aware.

      B.  Moving forward with downsizing ICFMR centers

                1.  Significant use of county’s time and funding resources for these down sizing.

                2.  Focus on Transition

                3.  Good thing its happening but swift process.

      C.  Contract staff /application staff are working on getting back to individual’s on residential contracts

                1.  Feb 1 10:30am Meeting at the county offices with Geri Lyday

                2.  Goal for the new year is to focus on T-19 providers and compile a list with a help /handout

        F.  Health Disparities: Lois

                1.  Reviewing the tool Jan 17 9am at Goodwill

        G.  People Can’t wait:  Lois

                1.  2d Tues of every month 9am 2/14/06 ARC 72d /Center

                2.  Several subcommittees looking for new members

        H.  Aging Consortium

                1.  Mentioned disability at least 5 times

                2.  Spoke of putting $ together weather nursing home or community placement

                3.  Appeared strong supporter of Family Care and making that part of disabilities

                Green

                1.  Positive but not much different info or view

                Governor Rep

                1.  Spoke of RFI and stuck with it.

 

III.  Guest speaker : Mark Lainge-IRS

        A.  Vita Sites-income can not be over $40,000 per year

                Volunteer income tax assistance

                Low income , elderly, and disabled

        B.  Multiple handouts for locations and key things to bring

                Call first to make sure they are open due to volunteers

        C.  Earned income credit

                1. Not being utilized by all individual’s that could be utilizing it.

                2.  3yrs to file an amendment return for Federal if you didn’t file it or if you owed and had to pay you have 2yrs to amend.
